Police and Security Manager

The Portland Harbour Police Force was established under the auspices of The Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847 and the limits of its jurisdiction are the limits of Portland Harbour, and one mile there from, and the privately owned dock estate covering some 320 acres of land, buildings and jetties.

Applications are invited for the post of Police and Security Manager to further develop and operate the policing service for Portland Harbour and its dock estate.

Reporting directly to the Landside Services Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the day to day police and security operations of the Portland Harbour Police Force. Also to provide an effective and efficient police and security service to the port, its users, customers and tenants at all times.

Portland Harbour has been selected as the sailing and windsurfing events site for the London 2012 Olympic Games and accordingly a great deal of interaction between the Harbour Police Force and other security agencies will be required.  Therefore candidates will need to demonstrate a proven track record at the rank of Inspector or above with  a Harbour police force, Home Office police force or a military service equivalent.

Salary: £35,000

Police Sergeant

 

Applications are invited for the post of Police Sergeant to supervise and operate the policing service for Portland Harbour and its dock estate.

 

Reporting directly to the Police and Security Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all aspects of the day to day operations of the Harbour’s Police constables and contracted security staff. Also provide efficient and effective policing and security service to the port, its users, customers and tenants, by providing a high visibility policing service.

 

Portland Harbour has been selected as the sailing and windsurfing events site for the London 2010 Olympic Games and accordingly a great deal of interaction between the Harbour Police Force and other security agencies will be required.  Therefore candidates will need to demonstrate a proven track record with a Harbour police force, Home Office police force or a military service equivalent.

 

Salary: £25,000
