On the 27th February four of Portland Port’s Police Support Officers attended Weymouth Magistrates Court to be attested to the office of Constable.
The new Police Constables will continue to receive extensive training to support them in their new role.
Bill Reeves, the CEO of Portland Port said ‘It was a proud day for the new Constables and Portland Port. As our business continues to expand, the increased capabilities of Portland Port Police will bring additional security to the port’s tenants and users.”
Portland Port Chief Police Officer, Inspector James Grant added ‘We are pleased to welcome these new constables into the Portland Port Police force. With the increase of operations at Portland Port, especially cruise ships, the extra ability to protect our shores from the ever-increasing security threat will be improved by their presence on duty.’

Portland Harbour Authority invite interested parties to a drop-in session to find out more about our plans to apply to Defra for a fisheries order legally known as a Several Order. Several Orders are granted for setting up or improving private shellfisheries and in this case will relate to crustaceans and molluscs. In securing the Order the harbour authority’s policy is one of “being supportive of improving the cultivation/ management of the fishery but in doing so it must be mindful of the activities of the harbour’s existing users and the environment.”
